Zero-Aware Low-Precision RNS Scaling Scheme

چکیده

Scaling is one of the complex operations in Residue Number System (RNS). This operation necessary for RNS-based implementations deep neural networks (DNNs) to prevent overflow. However, state-of-the-art RNS scalers special moduli sets consider 2k modulo as scaling factor, which results a high-precision output with high area and delay. Therefore, low-precision based on multi-moduli factors should be used improve performance. numbers less than scale factor zero output, makes subsequent result faulty. paper first presents formulation hardware architecture four-moduli using new Chinese remainder theorem 2 (New CRT-II) two-moduli factor. Next, scaler circuits are reused achieve minimum overhead. proposed can detect after then transform scaled residues precision when input number not zero.

A Look-Up Scheme for Scaling in the RNS

ÐPrevious scaling schemes have used iterative algorithms, which lead to computation time and memory requirements that increase with the number of moduli. This paper presents a two look-up cycle scaling scheme which allows a diminution of the required memory when nonlarge sets of moduli are considered. This scheme can be combined with previous algorithms for larger sets of moduli. Index TermsÐRe...

Low-cost scheme for high-precision dual-wavelength laser metrology.

A method capable of delivering relative optical path length metrology with nanometer precision is demonstrated. Unlike conventional dual-wavelength metrology, which employs heterodyne detection, the method developed in this work utilizes direct detection of interference fringes of two He-Ne lasers as well as a less precise stepper motor open-loop position control system to perform its measureme...

On Dynamic Precision Scaling

Based on the observation that application phases exhibit varying degrees of sensitivity to noise (i.e., accuracy loss) in computation during execution, this paper explores how Dynamic Precision Scaling (DPS) can maximize power efficiency by tailoring the precision of computation adaptively to temporal changes in algorithmic noise tolerance. DPS can decrease the arithmetic precision of noise-tol...

Inductance Aware Interconnect Scaling

This paper introduces a new global-tier interconnect scaling scheme which ensures that inductance effects do not start dominating the overall interconnect performance. It is shown that for unscaled global lines, inductance effects increase as technology scales while for the scaling scheme proposed by ITRS [1], interconnects become extremely resistive and, while inductance effects diminish with ...

Scaling an RNS Number Using the Core Function

This paper introduces a method for extracting the core of a Residue Number System (RNS) number within the RNS, this affording a new method for scaling RNS numbers. Suppose an RNS comprises a set of co-prime moduli, mi, with ∏mi = M. This paper describes a method for approximately scaling such an RNS number by a subset of the moduli, ∏mj = MJ ≈ √M, with the characteristic that all computations a...
